Why not use white soapstone?
There are several reasons why you won’t be able to use Soapstone: You’re offline (at the time of this writing, it looks like the PC servers are having a bit of a problem) You’re in a Champions Pact. Burned an effigy at the stake in the area you are in.
When can I use White Sign soapstone?
White Mark Soapstones can be used if the user is a Hollow, in human form, or has defeated the bosses themselves. Players can only see white summon tiles if their owners are within 10 levels (+/ an additional 10% of their current character level).
Why not use a red soapstone?
Red soapstone cannot be used in a hollow mold. You can still be summoned even after the host defeats the local boss. You cannot be charged if you have been summoned and defeated by the master. Similar to the Red-Eyed Sphere, the Red-Marked Soapstone sometimes turns the user into a dark blue or white ghost.
How often can White Sign soapstone be used?
notes Only one protective white soapstone can be placed at a time. Attempting to place another will delete the previous one. If the white-marked soapstone is successfully used in another game world, the player becomes human and is rewarded with a loyalty token.
