Vitalik Buterin was born on January 31, 1994 in Kolomna, Russia. His parents are Dmitry Buterin and Natalia Amelin. His father, Dmitry, is a computer scientist. When he was six years old, his parents moved to Canada in search of a better job. Buterin was an excellent student and thus ranked among the gifted third graders.
