Controversy
Vijay Mishra was involved in much controversy during his political career in the government of Uttar Pradesh. He caused controversy when he was expelled from the Samajwadi party in 2017 for anti-partisan activities. He later ran as an independent candidate in the 2017 elections and also became a member of the NISHAD party.
He was also expelled from the NISHAD party in 2018 for supporting the Bharatya Janata party candidate in the 2017 Rajya Sabha elections when his party wanted him to support the Bahujan party candidate Samaj. It also made headlines in 2014 when his daughter ran for the Lok Sabha in the 2014 Indian general election and was assigned an armed guard.
This court later ruled that this action by the Uttar Pradesh government was illegal. He recently caused controversy when he said that there is Gundaraj in Uttar Pradesh and everything will be in Uttar Pradesh. On August 15, 2020, Vijay Mishra was arrested by Uttar Pradesh State Police during a trip to Rajasthan and was arrested by Uttar Pradesh State Police in Madhya Pradesh Agar district of Malwa while praying at the Mahakal temple during the escape from him.
