Career
Early in his career, Vinyesh Sivan directed a short film for which Dharan composed the music. He showed the short film to the producers, namely Gemini Film Circuit, and also to his childhood friend Silambarasan. In 2012, they both decided to work together in the movie Podaa Podi. The film ended after four years due to some issues and was later released in October 2012 to mixed reviews from film critics. Subsequently, he started working as a lyricist, he also directed his own independent music videos and appeared as an actor with a technical role in a movie named Velaiyilla Pattathari in 2014. His second movie titled Naanum Rowdydhaan was released in 2015 as the first movie. This movie also went through ups and downs. They had to make some changes to the cast and production studios. This film stars Nayantara and Vijay Setupati and was produced by Dhanush. The film, inspired by the life of his parents, received positive reviews in October 2015.
