Early Life

Tyrone was born on April 17, 1982 in Ferguson, Missouri. He is the eleventh of 13 children. From a young age, Tyrone was involved in wrestling with him, competing in American football during his high school days. His early successes included winning the Missouri Men’s 4A State Championship in 2000. He then attended the University of Missouri, where he was a two-time All-American and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics.

Tyrone’s first professional fight will take place on February 7, 2009, where he will face Steve Schneider, whom he defeats by submission in the first round. In the same year, he made his debut in Strikeforce. He will soon sign a contract with them for six games. Thanks to good performances and numerous applications, he will extend his contract even further. However, he failed to win the Strikeforce welterweight championship in 2012.

In 2013, Tyrone began a new chapter in his career by signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He made his debut against Jay Hieron and defeated him by knockout in 36 seconds. The following year, Tyrone signed a new 8-match contract with the UFC.

His big moment came in 2016 when he took on Robbie Lawler and won by knockout to win the UFC welterweight championship in a stellar performance. He then had two big games with Stephen Thompson to defend the title and won both of them in very close matches. He also successfully defended the title against Demian Maia and Darren Till.

However, in 2019, Tyrone Kamaru will face Usman in a match where Usman will completely dominate and lose via unanimous decision. The defeat caused Tyrone to lose the title, which he managed to keep for 3 years. He then lost three straight and Dana White forced him into retirement.
