Early Life
Tyler was born to a Nigerian father and an American mother of mixed African-American descent. Tyler never got a chance to meet his father. He grew up in Ladera Heights and by the age of seven was already creating covers for his fictional albums.
Tyler learned to play the piano when he was only 14 years old. An interesting fact about Tyler is that in her 12 years of high school, she attended 12 different schools.

In his early years, he occasionally worked at FedEx and Starbucks for a living. Tyler has also posted various creations that he has made on his MySpace page. Later in 2007, Tyler formed an alternative hip hop group called Odd Future. The group also included Casey Weggis and Hodgy Left Brain as core members. One of their first releases was The Odd Future Tape, which they released in 2008.
The following year, Tyler worked on his solo mixtape Bastard. One of his songs titled Yonkers earned him “Best New Artist” award at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. This led to his signing with Red Distribution and Sony that same year. He will then release his first album called Goblin. It was then that he started the great popularity of it, as he also started appearing in various night shows.
