Travis Hansen is a Russian-born American basketball player and retired businessman. He is known for playing for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association. As of 2021, Travis Hansen's net worth is estimated at $10 million.
Born on April 15, 1978, in Utah, Hansen began playing basketball while attending Mountain View High School. During his time there he averaged 18.6 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game and 7.5 assists per game. He was also team captain when his school was named the regional and consolation winner in 1996.
Hansen then enrolled at Utah Valley State College to play college basketball. He then moved from Utah Valley State College to Brigham Young University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Medicine. He also attended Duke University, where he received a Certificate in Nonprofit Organization Management.
During his tenure at BYU, he was a two-time AllMWC Defensive Player of the Year and a two-time AllDistrict pick.
In 2003, Hansen was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA draft. In his first season he played a total of 41 games, starting with four and averaging 3 points per game. However, he was unable to play due to a stress fracture in his right leg and missed the next 40 games. His career culminated in a game against the Bolton Celtics where he played 41 minutes and scored 14 points on 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
After a season with the Atlanta Hawks, he signed a two-year contract with TAU Cerámica, with which he won the 2005 Spanish Super Cup, the 2006 Spanish Cup and two Euroleague finals. Hansen then played for Russian clubs Dynamo Moscow and Himi, as well as Spanish club Real Madrid.
Since retiring from basketball in 2011, he has been actively involved in various business activities. In 2013 he founded the company Credit Life. He is also the founder of Tesani companies. It is an American holding company that creates, acquires and invests in other large companies.
Hansen was also involved in philanthropic activities. In 2007, Hansen and his wife Larry founded the Little Heroes Foundation. It was later renamed the Solar Heroes Foundation. The foundation helped build 10 nurseries around the world, including Africa, Russia, Thailand, Nepal, Panama and Nicaragua.
As for his personal life, Hansen is married to LaRie. Together they have five children and live in Mapleton, Utah.
