Early life
Sharrif Shah was born on January 29, 1971 in Los Angeles, California. He was born to parents Naim and Ava Shah. Sharrif considered his father her role model and his best friend. He grew up with five siblings, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. One of his brothers, Shamon Shah, changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after the NBA legend sued him. Karim has also played soccer for teams like the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and Indianapolis Colts.
Sharriff’s life was not easy from an early age, as his parents separated. He was raised by both parents as they had a common paternity agreement. In 1989 he moved to Utah, leaving his family behind.
Sharrif completed her higher education at Susan Miller Dorsey High School. She later enrolled at the University of Utah and earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with honors. She continued her studies and in 1995 she earned a master’s degree in motor and sports science. Six years later, in 2001, she received a law degree.
