Russell Henley was born on April 12, 1989 in Macon, Georgia, USA. He was born to parents Chapin and Sally Henley. Russell was interested in golf from a young age. He also played golf in college and out of college. Russell studied at Stratford Academy. He then enrolled at the University of Georgia, where he played college golf for four years.
Russell was in excellent shape during his student years. He was also named Most Outstanding College Golfer and won the Haskins Award in 2010.
