Paul Kemsley was born on August 17, 1967 in Stanmore, Middlesex, England. He studied at the Atoll school. Paul started working for Giovanni Paolo Menswear at the age of 15. He worked there on Saturdays. While working at Menswear, he met billionaire retailer Mike Ashley. He played darts with Mike-Price.
He left school at 17 and began working for Gross Fine as a junior surveyor. In 1985 he joined a commercial real estate company as a broker. He worked for the real estate company for seven years before teaming up with his former partner Mike Ashley to form their retail group, Sports Direct.
