Nichelle Nichols was born on December 28, 1932 in Robbins, Illinois, United States. She was born to her parents, Samuel Earle and Salish Nichols. Her father was a factory worker who was later elected mayor of the town of Robbins. Nichols grew up in Chicago, where she lived in an apartment with her family. She studied in three different places: Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.

Nichols got her big break in the 1961 musical Pinky & Co. She worked as a casual model before beginning her acting career. As a model, she appeared on the cover of Ebony magazine. After some difficulties, Nichols finally landed her the lead role in the television series Star Trek as Nyota Uhura. She was one of the first black women to appear on a major television series.

Nichelle was supposed to leave the show after her first year, but after talking to a doctor. Martin Luther King Jr. her opinion. Nichelle Nichols has been married twice. She was first married to dancer Foster Johnson. She has a son named Kyle Johnson from her first marriage. In 1968 she married the Duke of the Worlds. However, her second marriage also ended in divorce in 1972. She was diagnosed with dementia in 2018, after which she retired after performing at conventions.

Lately, Nichols has been arguing with a conservative. Her son Kyle Johnson, her friend Angelica Fawcett and former manager Gilbert Bell are involved in the fight against the Conservatives. In 2018, her son Kyle won a petition at the Nichols Conservatory.

However, some time later, Nichols’s close friend, Angelica Fawcett, objected to Kyle’s request, claiming that Nicole was still sane and free to handle her personal and financial affairs.

After Kyle was named Nichols’ manager in January 2019, his manager Bell sued him and used his managerial influence to take control of Nichols’ personal business and fortune. Bell also sued Johnson for kicking him out of the Nichols rooming house.
