Early life
Maya Moore was born on June 11, 1989 in Jefferson City, Missouri, United States. She was raised by her mother Katherine Moore, who introduced her to basketball at the age of 3. As a child she played basketball in the ring outside the back door of her apartment. Her father, Mike Dabney, was also a college basketball player who wasn’t around when she was growing up.
