Early Life

Kelly grew up in a place called Far Rockaway in Queens, New York. When her parents went to church, they decided to take her to a church singing group when she was still a child. This early exposure to singing led Kelly to a lifelong musical practice.

When Kelly was just 19 years old, she managed to land her first professional gig when she performed with George Michael at Madison Square Garden in 1992. The same year she went to the Grammy Awards, Mariah Carey heard about her singing in The Next Room.

She liked Kelly’s voice and introduced her to her husband, Carey, who was a chef at Sony Columbia. Kelly then found a job as a backup singer for Carey and continued to work with her for 5 years.

During this time, she was able to win numerous awards for several very popular songs, including the hit single Fantasy released by Mariah Carey. Furthermore, she also participated in Mo Money Mo Problems and Heartbreak Hotel.

Years later, Kelly Price felt that she was not living up to her true potential, so she decided to continue her singing career by signing with Island Records. With them she released her first album entitled Soul of A Woman. The album’s biggest hit was Friend of Mine, which was a huge hit.

There was also an LP version of Friend of Mine which managed to reach number one on the US R&B chart. She then continued her work as a songwriter and later released Mirror Mirror on Def Jam Records in 2000.

Among the hits was the single You Should’ve Told Me, which was even nominated for a Grammy Award. Due to her increasing popularity and recognition, she also starred in a 2003 movie called House Collapse.

Returning to her church roots, Kelly has now focused on gospel music and released her debut gospel album in 2006 titled This is Who I Am. It was a huge success as it managed to debut at number 1 on the Billboard Gospel chart. Graphics.

Kelly Price was in a relationship with Jeffrey Roll, who was also her former manager. They have been together for almost 25 years before deciding to separate in 2016. They have two children together from this marriage. She recently mentioned that she is currently engaged to a man, but she has yet to reveal any details about the man to the public.

Kelly has been involved in various legal matters over the years. The 2018 lawsuit damaged her reputation when Sang Girl Productions gave her a $25,000 advance to raise money for a non-profit organization. However, she did not attend the event and did not return the advance.
