Juelz Santana (real name Laron Louis James) was born on February 18, 1982 in New York, United States. He was born to a Dominican father and an African-American mother. Juelz spent his early years in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. From an early age he decided to follow his musical dream. In fact, he started rapping at the age of 5.
Growing up, his passion for hip hop and rap grew. As a result, he formed the rap duo Draftpick with his close friend Malik. The duo have performed all over New York. Jewels was arrested by police on February 2, 2011, for possessing an unlicensed firearm, a pistol, and a controlled dangerous substance. He also wanted to distribute controlled substances 300 meters from the school. He was also charged with terrorist threats and vandalism in November 2011.
Santana was jailed for 27 months on Dec. 18 after carrying luggage containing a loaded .38 caliber pistol and eight oxycodone pills.
