The Herb Baumeister Murders
As a teenager, Herb Baumeister was diagnosed with schizophrenia but never received treatment. He was investigated for the murder of more than a dozen men in the early 1990s, most of whom were last seen in gay bars. In the Baumeister territory, the police found the remains of eleven people, eight of whom have been identified. After receiving a warrant for his arrest, Baumeister fled to Ontario, where he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in Pinerie Provincial Park on Lake Huron. In his suicide note, he described the failure of her marriage and his business as the reason for his suicide. He did not confess to the murders of the men found in his garden.
