Gina Marie Raimondo (born May 17, 1971) is an American politician and venture capitalist who has served as the 75th Governor of Rhode Island since 2015. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first woman to hold the office of Governor of Rhode Island. Prior to her election, she served as Rhode Island’s General Treasurer from 2011 to 2015, becoming the second woman to hold the position. She was nominated as a Democrat for Governor of Rhode Island in the 2014 election. Raymond won the November 4, 2014 election with 41% of the vote in a three-way race, defeating Mayor Cranston, Republican Allan Fung, and businessman Robert Healey.
