Early Life
Kane’s father was an amateur boxer and hockey player, and his mother also played sports volleyball. This had a huge impact on Kane’s growth and passion for the sport.
He attended John Oliver High School and played a variety of sports, including baseball, football, and basketball. He started playing ice hockey at the age of eight. As a teenager, Kane had already competed in several tournaments, including the North Shore Winter Club.

In 2006, Kane was selected 19th overall in the WHL Entry Draft against the Vancouver Giants. He began playing regularly in 2007 and also competed in the 2007 Memorial Cup championship. However, Kane struggled to be diagnosed with mononucleosis the following season. Kane recovered and resumed his performance steadily. In the same year, he was even nominated for the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy for WHL Rookie of the Year.
Kane had a very good season in 2009 and managed to finish fourth in the league standings that year. That same year, he received his first professional contract after being drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers.
