Early Life
Asner attended Wyandotte High School before deciding to attend the University of Chicago, where he studied journalism. Like many young people of this age, the choice of studies is made without real planning to continue or not on that path.
The same thing happened to Asner when he later decided to change his major to acting because he felt there were more opportunities here and more of his interests aligned there. However, Asner did not graduate, and instead she began doing odd jobs to make ends meet. Among them were taxi drivers and General Motors workers.
