Early Life
Haskins was born on May 3, 1997, in Highland Park, New Jersey. He studied at the Bullis School, where he began to actively play soccer. He originally signed up to play football at the University of Maryland, but after his coach was fired, Haskins decided to attend Ohio State University. During his college years, Haskins was mentored by an NFL wide receiver named Mohamed Sanu.

Redshirted as a freshman at Ohio State the following year, Haskins became J.T. Barrett’s backup. That same year, he finished the season with 40 assists for 57. As a sophomore, Haskins began to display an ability that set him the season record for most assists and touchdowns at the start of the season. That same year, he had 50 touchdowns, becoming one of only seven NCAA quarterbacks to reach that goal in a single season.
While in college, Haskins was named a Maxwell Award semifinalist and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.
