Denis first saw his birth on October 3, 1967. He was born in the town of Gentilly in Becancourt, Quebec, Canada.
Villeneuve began his studies at Saint Joseph Seminary in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. With an aptitude for science, he enrolled in natural sciences at the Cégep de Trois-Rivières. Eventually, he became interested in film and decided to attend the University of Quebec in Montreal, where he studied film.
