You can use thru-bolts (which can be quick releases) in the QR dropouts. These require special hubs that allow for a 9mm thru-bolt at the front and a 10mm thru-bolt at the rear. Brandon, as far as I know, if you have rim brakes, all associated hubs, forks and frames are designed for QRs. So converting to thru axles would be impractical and/or impossible, and the QRs are more than stiff enough for rim brake setups.

stiffer, yes. But Standard QR is perfectly functional even for a rider over 200lbs. I am not aware of any conversion kit for Shimano. If they play well maybe a Saint axle in the back would work.
