Arun is now 62 years old. Arun is best known for his role as Ram in Ram Anand Sagar’s Ramayan on DD National in 1977. In an interview, Arun admits that his father wanted him to be a civil servant, while Arun wanted to do something for which we remember him. . After completing his studies, he moved to Mumbai to join his brother’s business but later turned his attention to the Hindi film industry. He has acted in films and TV series in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Braj Bhasha, Odia and Telugu. He debuted in 1977 as Prashant Nanda’s Paheli, but his breakthrough came after Kanak Mishra cast him as Sawan Ko Aane Do in 1977. After the huge success of the Ramayana, he took part in many major projects, including the role of Harishchandra. in the TV series Vishwamitra and as Lord Buddha in the TV series Buddha.

Career
After performing at theater college, he decided to pursue acting. Govil got his first break from this acting career in Indian cinema in a 1977 film called Paheli. Barjatia was impressed with Govil’s performance in the film and he signed a three-film contract: Kanak Mishra Sawana Ko Aane Do in 1979, Vijay Kapoor Raadhi Aur Sita in 1979 and Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin’s Satyen Bose in 1979. Sawan Ko Aane Do became Huge box office success propelled Govil to fame. Raadha Aur Seeta was a box office failure while Saanch Ko Aanch Nahin was another box office success. He starred in Kanak Mishra’s Jiyo To Aise Jiyo in 1981 which became the 30th highest grossing film of the year.
Awards
Arun won the 1988 Uptron Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Ram in the HindiTV series Ramayan.

- One day, in the late 1980s, Arun Govil ran for Congress against V.P. Singh. But he lost because most voters wrote “Jai Shri Ram” on the ballot when they voted for him.
