He is suing Gov. Matt Bevin over budget cuts to the public university system that Beshear Bevin said were not allowed in 2016.
In November 2018, he filed nine lawsuits against pharmaceutical companies for their alleged role in fueling the opioid epidemic in Kentucky.

Beshear advocates for same-sex marriage and equality for LGBTQ people.
